Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! I think the midwife practice that I went to would have benefited tremendously from the system you described. I have actually since done something similar with my new OB/GYN, when I got pregnant with my second child, and while it wasn’t as helpful as it would have been if it had been one of the actual healthcare providers who attended my first birth, it was really useful. I left some of the more complex, ancillary medical details out of this story in the interest of clarity and emotional truth, but it has ben really helpful to get a more complete grasp on what happened that evening.
